A vibrant and historic concert band serving the Cecil County, Maryland region
William H. Lewis, Jr. Scholarship Information
Bill Lewis was a life-long resident of Cecil County and taught music in the Cecil County Public Schools for 40 years. He served as both player and conductor from the 1930's-1970s, and helped revive the band in 1998.
When Bill passed away in 2003, the Lewis family and the Elkton Town Band established the William H. Lewis, Jr. Memorial Scholarship in his honor. The one-time $1,000 scholarship is presented to a talented Cecil County high school senior musician who has participated in the Elkton Town Band for at least two concert series in their senior year, and who will pursue a college education as a music major in the upcoming school year.
